Information Theory and Coding

Required Textbook: Elements of Information Theory by T. M. Cover and J. A. Thomas, Wiley, 2006

Recommended Readings: 

1) Information Theory and Reliable Communication, by R. G. Gallager

2) Information Theory and Network Coding, by R. W. Yeung

Prerequisite: EE 5531 (Probability and Stochastic Processes) or an equivalent course on probability theory is required

Homework: Approximately 7 series for the semester

Midterm Exam: Thursday, Oct. 29th, 2:30 - 3:45 PM

Final Exam: Wednesday, Dec. 23rd, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Grading Policy: Final grade will be 10% homework, 25% midterm, 25% project (+5% bonus), and 40% final exam.
